The Problem

McDonald's Monopoly required a code redemption experience balancing gamification and usability.

The Solution

I designed a card-based scan flow with progressive animations and built-in error recovery features.

Key Features

A closer look at the solutions that improved efficiency and user satisfaction.

Wallet & Prize History

Centralized view of unclaimed prizes and scan history, making it easy to claim rewards and track game progress.

The Impact

Delivered three design concepts balancing functionality with gamification, with Option 3 selected for user testing.

The design process resulted in three viable concepts that each addressed McDonald's core requirements differently. Through stakeholder collaboration, we identified that users needed robust error handling alongside gamification leading to the selection of Option 3's balanced approach.

The final design incorporated card-based interactions for scan results, allowing users to swipe through multiple prizes with progressive reveal animations. Built in troubleshooting features like video tutorials addressed practical usability concerns, while the property tracker maintained the excitement of collecting Monopoly pieces. Though external circumstances prevented the game's launch, the project showcased the value of exploring multiple design directions before converging on a solution.
